 The Miracle Chaser
Have you heard about people who chase tornadoes for the thrill of witnessing close-up the power of nature?
Bob Black, "The Most Excellent Way" ministry leader at Calvary Chapel Oceanside, CA, says he is a "miracle chaser." He eagerly attends support meetings to witness miracles close up!
It is indeed thrilling to see the Power of the Creator of all things work His miracles as He transforms addicts and alcoholics into "new creations in Christ!"
We hope you will join our adventure. | |

Hal Toebe, San Diego County, CA
There are 31 "The Most Excellent Way" support meetings in San Diego County due to the tireless efforts of Area Director/Pastor Hal Toebe.
For nine years, Hal has assisted churches and ministries to establish weekly meetings to reach out with the love of God to those struggling with addictions.
Hal has trained dozens of Meeting Leaders, and he is the beloved patriarch of San Diego's Ministry Teams. It's safe to say that were it not for Hal's dedication and servant's heart, this ministry wouldn't be as effective in San Diego as it is today. |
From Lovett, Maine to Poland
Ric Eland is a world-class sculptor, a Vietnam vet, "The Most Excellent Way'" area director for the Northeast U.S. and it's ambassador to Poland. More importantly, he loves Jesus.
Ric attended meetings in New Hampshire, and soon became the ministry leader. Each year he teaches sculpting in a Tarnow, Poland, high school. During his visits, he was saddened by the high rate of alcoholism throughout the country. He determined he would take "The Most Excellent Way" to Tarnow - the Lord willing! Ric attended Pastor Irek Skozen's church, and introduced the ministry to him and others. Chris, an English professor, translated the Ministry Manual into Polish several years ago, and is now working on the Kick It manual.
Today, there are Support Meetings in five cities in Poland, and Ric and Pastor Irek are praying for a "The Most Excellent Way" conference/workshop in Tarnow for 2002. |

Perm, Russia
The Light of the Truth Church in Perm, Russia, is known as the "drug addicts' church." Pastor Valeriy Trenogin's passion to minister to young drug addicts led him to establish two rehab facilities - "The Farm" in the countryside, and the "transition" apartment in the city. Young people are turning their lives to Jesus, and the waiting list for "The Farm" grows daily.
News of Pastor Trenogin's ministry spread, and parents began attending his church to find help for their sons and daughters - discovering Jesus for themselves.
The drug problem in Russia is growing. The fall of the Soviet Union opened the borders for the devil to import the worse the western world has to offer. Just as people everywhere seek to fill the hole in their souls with the things of the world, the youth of Russia are turning to American pop-music, French fashion and drugs to express their freedom and to find meaning for their existence.
As Pastor Valeriy's ministry began to grow and bear fruit, he sought resources to help disciple the new, clean and sober Christians and their parents. He first translated the "How to Help Your Addicted Adult Child" brochure and distributed 3,000 in Perm. He then translated the updated English version of "The Most Excellent" Way Ministry Manual, and has distributed more than 300 copies to date.
At Pastor Valeriy's request, the Wrights traveled to Perm last June to conduct "The Most Excellent Way" two-day conference, which was attended by 90-100 people representing 30 churches in three cities. A second conference is tentatively planned for Summer 2002 in Ekaerinburg. When asked why he chose The Most Excellent Way for his ministry, Pastor Valeriy replied, "It's so simple - simply Biblical. And I think the name is very good also."
